Genesys Logic Usb Hub Driver

When I plug in a usb 3 hub, external harddrives get splicing input output error when copying most files and disappear from the system. Tried with 3 hard drives, and 3 usb keys on both a usb 3 hub and a usb 2 hub, all disks are usb 2. if I unplug the usb 3 hub, the harddrives will work ( slowly ) on the usb 2.0 hub fine and on the usb 3 ports. They also work find on my media box and brothers windows laptop.
I'm using ubuntu 11.10 64 bit, fully updated. usb disks are a mix of fat32 and ntfs.
All drives check out fine in chkdsk in windows. I sent the last hub back to the store because of this error, and got one that many websites said had linux support.
It's the Unitek Y-3041 usb 3.0 4 port hub. Need it because my computer doesn't have many usb ports, and I normaly have 3 2tb harddrives plugged in at all times, and transfer files between them, so I usb 2.0 hub is too slow.
lsusb output after the crash:

Genesys logic usb

I've just plugged in a internal usb card reader

Genesys Logic Card Reader Driver

USB 3.1 Gen 1 Hub Controller with Native USB Type-C™ Integrated GL850G. USB 2.0 STT Hub Controller GL852G. USB 2.0 MTT Hub Controller.

$lsusb:

But when I plug in a card nothing happens.

Any thoughts?

If it helps, I had a couple of those '33-in-1' card readers. They never worked in Linux, Windows or anything with electricity. I am not saying all but from 7 I tested 4 had the same issue. Of those 4 only one slot of SD worked, the rest did not. So maybe the problem might be the device and not Linux. I suggest to test it on Windows and if it is bad, buy a new one and test it on the place you are buying it from.

Kahin to hoga last episode 800. They can work, all that is needed in most modern Ubuntu/debian distros is:

open up a terminal and run:

If that doesn't get it to work, look at http://www.cs.sfu.ca/~ggbaker/personal/cf-linux
